You know how I can never only write about the outfit alone, right? This heavily printed blouse made me think of a much deeper issue – the one of being noticed. Better said, when we want to be noticed a bit too eagerly, or when we’ll do anything not to be noticed.
I am mostly an introvert so growing up, I didn’t want to be noticed whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I would have done anything to fit in. I would have rounded the edges of a square peg just to fit it in a round hole. Problem was, I had different taste than the majority of my colleagues.
I will not say that it was a unique one, I have a mirror to tell me otherwise if I want to analyse the sum of choices that I made that I now call “taste”, but I noticed quite that what I liked, was not the most common choice. The wine I liked (I started with the most important – might have something to do with the fact that I am writing this in bed, with a glass of Villa Vinea – Gewurztraminer close-by). The books I liked or the fact that I do love reading books more than watching movies, made me different from my colleagues growing up.
But when it comes to clothes, I will have to ask my friends. I feel that especially as a teenager, I was caught up between a boiling creativity and wanting to fit in. Now I don’t want to fit in anymore, but it’s not my style to rebel out either. So this printed blouse is the beginning of me acknowledging what makes me different and assuming it.
Because I am a practical girl though, let me show you 3 ways to wear a heavily printed blouse.
Office outfit – with skirt
Smart casual outfit – with trousers
Layer it under a dress
