3 Christmas makeup looks

The countdown to Christmas has started: we only have one week left. Yuppi! Wait, what are we wearing on Christmas Eve, do we have enough presents for everybody, what makeup look should we do? This time, I can help you with the last part. I promised you I will do a beauty related post because I haven’t done one in ages I feel like, and having such a good occasion and such a nice palette on hand, I just had to. You’ll have three makeup looks to choose from: a more natural one, a warm rusty toned one and for the most daring, a smokey galaxy one.

This is one of the palettes that I have seen numerous Youtube tutorials on, and I was on the hunt for it for a while, but being an American brand, it takes some time for it to be available in the UK. Then, I completely forgot about it until Daniela has gifted it to me. You can’t imagine how I jumped up and down, I was that happy. I almost wanted to close  myself in a room and just stare and swatch the palette. The one that I am talking about is the Jaclyn Hill palette from Morphe that, if you are from the UK, you can find on Cult Beauty.

This is such a versatile palette, with a good proportion of matte and metallic eyeshadows. Most colours are warm-toned which is what I prefer anyways, but you do have a few cool-toned eyeshadows that look surprisingly good on most skin tones I saw them used on. I am still enthusiastic about this palette and want to use it as much as possible, so I thought, what better time to challenge myself to do 3 very different makeup looks for Christmas or any other party, with the Morphe palette.

1. The neutral makeup look

This is for the ladies who maybe meet their future mother in law on Christmas Eve. If I sound like I am talking from experience, that is exactly what I do. Two years ago I moved to London, and on Christmas Eve, I met Paul’s entire family: mother, father, 3 sisters, 3 brothers in law, 2 nephews. Not intimidating at all…so the last thing we want on such a night is to think about what they think about our makeup look. Does this make sense?

This is the prefect time to play it safe. Even if you are not in this situation, but you are on the hunt for some inspiration and you are not used to wearing a lot of makeup but you do want something simple and fairly easy to do, I’ve got you, girl! This is your neutral makeup look.

2. The Fire place makeup look

This is a look that I have not planned ahead, I just knew I wanted to do something warm-toned. With all the red toned palettes that have come out lately, I feel like we start being less and less intimidated by red. Something that helps me, because I do tend to look pink so my first though is that I would never do something to enhance that, I take good care that my foundation and bronzer are even and flattering. After this, I can bath in red…oh, sorry, this sounds just a bit weird…I guess it’s all the vampire series that have been out for the past years.

Back to the makeup look, this one does look considerably more colourful than the first, but to me, nothing says holiday and coziness more than a fire place. Plus, if you have hazel eyes, the red makes your eyes look lighter or at least that’s what is happening with mine.

3. The Galaxy makeup look

I love doing smokey, pigmented eyeshadow looks. I know this is not everybody’s cup of tea, like I rarely drink tea, but can talk about coffee, but just once in life, promise me you’ll give it a try. The inspiration for this makeup look was the palette itself. Jaclyn Hill has chosen a few dark velvet vibrant colours that I love staring at, but I feel intimidated wearing them on their own. All of them together, on the other hand…I am not intimidated to wear.

If you are in a playful mood, or are into vibrant but dark colours, this is your look. Would I wear it to this year’s Christmas party with Paul’s family? Probably not, but I will wear it in our nocturnal photo shoots. Still the important part is not whether I’d wear it, it is if you would?

IMG_6999 final blog

Let me know in the comments below which is your favourite one of these three Christmas makeup looks. It is not necessary that you use this eyeshadow palette that I did to accomplish them, but I know it’s been a very popular choice and it’s still in stock. So if you do own it, I hope I have you some cute ideas on how to use it further.

Colouful kisses!

To bronze or not to bronze?

I am latey latey with the blog post. Have you noticed? The dog ate my homework…wait, not this. This summer the hot weather in London with being in air conditioning for 9 hours messed up my entire system. Every time these days that I tried to sit in front of the laptop screen- migraine! Getting back to the question about bronzing, damaging UV left behind, I would say, to bronze! I do realize that to be bronzed does not mean the same thing in every culture, but where I come from, looking slightly tanned is synonymous with looking healthy.

The older I get the more I hear how harming the sun rays are and thinking that I used to bath in them for hours when I was a child… The sun might make us feel healthy in the beginning but abusing it, it can actually age our skin. It’s useless saying how important SPF is any time of the year. This being said, I am looking for a new SPF. I am using the Anthelios from La Roche Posay but it irritates my skin if I use it three days in a row so I need a better solution.

I, personally, despite the fact that I am quite fair, I have the potential of getting a nice tan. This happens only after I attend the tomato competition because first I turn red (bright red) and only after then I start exploring shades of brown. Because of this and because of the lack of time, I started looking for makeup to give me that healthy bronzed look, but without the red, dry too tanned skin effect. I have three makeup products at hand that serve a a very similar purpose, and if you are into makeup, you’ll find an excuse to have all three, just like me.

Urban Decay Beached Bronzer in Sun-kissed

This is my all year round bronzer. The shade suits me both at my palest or at my wow! I have actually been in the sun enough to get a tan. For now I only use powder bronzers so if I want to look healthy, sun-kissed as the name suggests – this is my go to. It’s easily buildable which means that if you have a light hand with it, you will barely see it on the skin, but if you repeat the process a few times – you have the potential of looking like a bronzed goddess.

can you tell how much I like it?

Benefit – Hoola (the original)

This is a tricky one for me. I received a sample of this in one of the beauty boxes and if you have watched makeup gurus on Youtube, you might remember that this bronzer was receiving everyone’s praise. It’s much finer than the Urban Decay one but this also means that if you want to build up a bronzed look, your hand has to be lighter than a butterfly. Personally, I think the problem for me is the shade. Probably the newer version, Hoola light will suit my skin tone better. When I did manage to get nicely bronzed though, the undertone of this bronzer looked like nothing else.

Too Faced – Sweetie Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer

You might ask yourself – radiant matte? What a big fat lie that is? That is a contradiction! But somehow, when you put the bronzer on the face, it makes sense. On my skin, this looks like a matte bronzer except if I do manage to bring it slightly higher, to my cheekbones, it reflects a very natural glow. All honesty, this is my lazy product, the one I use all the time.

Despite the cutest presentation (it really does look like a pie) and the fact that the smell is yummi without being overpowering, this will give you a soft bronzed but blushy look. If I can’t be bothered putting foundation on and it’s just a concealer kind of day, this is what you see on my face to make me look healthy and slightly blushed.

What is your opinion on being bronzed? Do you think it’s necessary, does it make you feel any different and most importantly, what bronzer do you use. Liquid or powder?

Liquid lipsticks for any occasion | Kat von D

I can now say that I’ve trialed a decent number of liquid lipsticks and know what I want from them. I have really dry lips so I need to stay away from the extremely drying formula, but then, my lips are uneven so I need a liquid lipstick to be creamy enough to redraw my lips shape. The one formula that I go back to every single time and I would not mind owning every single shade, is Kat von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. I wouldn’t mind having even the turquoise in the collection, I would probably not wear it much but every single shade has such a unique undertone.

I first came across these liquid lipstick a year and a half ago when I moved to London. I knew about the brand from Youtube and I was before I got to the actual store. I even recommended somebody to buy a present for a friend of mind, one of the most popular shades – Lolita. When you get to the counter, you might be overwhelmed because there are 54 colours in the collection. Some are crazy bright and there’s little chance that you will find the same one in any other brand, and some are wearable, work appropriate.

1. Work appropriate

I have two shades that I wear for work on repeat. I am now referring to a classic job where your makeup has to be natural, not overpowering your features or your set of skills. If you work for Kat von D, they’d probably encourage you to experiment with colour.

One of the shades, and the first one I bought is Lolita. This is not the original shade, even though I wouldn’t mind that one either, but the first remake, that is a brown nude. This colour makes me look serious, ready for business and slightly more mature, which in job dictionary is more reliable. This is the shade that I wore to my interviews.

The second shade that I wear to work because it brightens up my complexion, is Berlin. In the tube, it looks like a very bright summery pink, but once on the lips, it becomes quite a wearable pink.

2. Summer joy

I was about to write “summertime” when my mind wandered away from the post to how Janis Joplin sings the Summertime song. I know, it’s way before my generation but my parents introduced me to such great music that it stayed with me till today:D

Back to the post, I was about to write that summertime is when we go for brighter colours.  The rays of sun, the heat and our new tan gives us the perfect excuse to take out those neon bright liquid lipstick shades. One of my recent purchases and my favourite among the brighter colours is A-Go-Go. This is a see from the plane slightly neon orange-red. Did I confuse you now? Even if I only got a few hours sleep, this colour brightens up everything that can be brightened…except coffee, that is still a must.

Now for summer’s pink, I chose Beloved. This is a colour I think I can’t pull off if I am not tanned. It’s more of a pastel pink which, if I am not wearing the right makeup, might make me look washed out. So summer it is then!

liquid lipsticks | miss casual

3. The odd one

This is one of the first colour that I bought also and I actually wore it a lot that winter. i am talking about the Damned shade. It’s such a dark burgundy brown…makes me think of all the Vampire series I watched in the past few years. This colour would be perfect if you like something dark on the lips but don’t want to go for black.

The only drawback is that if you eat while wearing Damned, it is a bit harder to reapply. What I mean by this is that when we eat oily food, it’s most likely that only the liquid lipstick from the center of our lips rubs off, the rest stays intact. So when we reapply, it is quite hard to reapply only to the center but if you put an extra coat of this shade, it looks thick. This does not happen though, with any of the other shades mentioned.

liquid lipsticks | miss casual

Have I made you curious yet? Keep in mind that I have terribly dry lips. This liquid lipstick still dries out my lips but not too badly. The thing is, I don’t need to reapply this lipstick throughout the day only if I eat, and even then, I might still be able to pull it off. Which of the colours is your favourite?

Eyeshadow palettes I am not using anymore

My eyeshadow palette collection is not a huge one. I would say that it’s bigger than I’d need it to be, but It’s not even close to what we see on Youtube nowadays. Even so, I have eyeshadow palettes that I am not using.

Most often, the reason for this is packaging. If the eyeshadow palette is bulky and can’t fit in with the rest of the palettes, it’s bound to be exiled somewhere else and be forgotten. Other times, the colour combination could be the one that is holding me back from using the palette. It can be that it’s not inspiring me or that I have similar colours to those in an eyeshadow palette that I already use.

Also, please keep in mind that what you are about to see are not necessarily bad palettes, these are palettes that I am just not grabbing every single week for some reason or another. The pictures will not be the clean, perfect ones we are so used to seeing on Instagram. Some of these palettes are dusty which you’ll be able to see on the mirrors which did not seem to want to be cleaned…just  thought I’d give you a heads up.

1. Kat von D – Metal Matte

When this eyeshadow palette came out I was so excited! It was interesting how depending on how you held the packaging, it said either metal or matte. Also, the eyeshadows inside seemed so exciting and for the longest time, they were. I used this palette a lot.

The metallic eyeshadows are very pigmented and soft and are a pleasure to wear, except the purple one which for some reason, the moment I apply it, it changes colour slightly. Same goes for some of the matte eyeshadows. I know it’s a strange thing to complain about, but if I need a particular shade and when I apply it it becomes ashier that I want it to be, there is not win there, right?

The main problem however, is how big this eyeshadow palette is. It does not fit with any of the rest of my palettes and most often, even though it’s a very good quality palette, I forget I have it or I can’t be bothered taking it out from where I found a place for it.

2. Too Faced – Sweet Peach

This eyeshadow palette was used like a hero before it was almost retired. Do you know how we always see in police movies that after they retire, some officers just can’t mind they own very quiet new life and keep in doing what their job was for years? This is how this palette is. I have used up completely the white in the palette and I have two more metallic eyeshadows that I use quite often and the matte coral shade. Other than that, the rest of the eyeshadows lay untouched.

This is something that I heard happens quite a lot with Too Faced eyeshadow palettes. There are a few very good quality eyeshadows, some that are good but won’t knock you off your feet and others that you won’t even waste your time with. That is exactly what is happening with this eyeshadow palette.

This does not mean that all Too Faced eyeshadow palettes are like this. I am still loving my Chocolate Gold one and it’s hard not to use it every day. Other than that, The Sweet Peach palette has a very slim packaging which is why I keep it with the rest of my palettes and after more than two years of use, it still smells like peaches, but not in an overpowering way.

3. Urban Decay – Full Spectrum

This is another palette that got me so excited at first because of all the bright colours. Of course, I don’t wear bright colours every day so I knew that I won’t be using this eyeshadow palette a lot but I am still not using it as I should be.

There are two problems with this palette: the packaging and the quality. The packaging is not that bad, but if you’ve ever been in an apartment in London, you know that space is gold. Which this palette is taking up a bit more space than the rest and it’s not giving the same satisfaction as the rest are.

The biggest issue though, is quality. I tried a wet brush, dens brush, finger, still, some of the eyeshadows are not as pigmented as I wanted them to be. Especially when you have bright colours, if you need to build them up too much, be sure that the excess that did not want to stick to your lid, is now under your eyes. Again, there are so many great Urban Dceay eyeshadow palettes, but this is not one of the best.

4. Huda Beauty – Rose Gold

How I loved this palette! I still do, but not as I used to. When I first saw the colours I was in for the ride. I did not mind at all that the metallics are a different formula than anything on the market and that they looked more like a chunky pigment on your lids, I loved that! I still use most of the textured eyeshadows in the palette.

It is almost unfair that this eyeshadow palette is in this blog post, but truth is, even though I love it, I seem to favor other palettes when I do my makeup. The matte eyeshadows are slightly drier than the ones in the Desert Dusk palette but they are still good eyeshadows: they are pigmented and blend well. However, I just seem to prefer the tones in my other palettes.

I have not tried the Remastered edition of this palette, but if Huda kept on improving her eyeshadows, they must be good because the rest of her palettes are amazing!

eyeshadow palettes | miss casual

These are the 4 palettes in my collection that I don’t use that often, from various reasons. The most serious one is the quality one, which means that it’s only a matter of time until I declutter them. I do have single eyeshadows that I don’t use that often either but that is my fault: I did not organize them in ages so that I will need to reach for one palette of singles and not three half empty ones.

Do you have eyeshadow palettes that you don’t use very often? How do you “convince” yourself to using them more?

Latest makeup post – here

What we do in our spare time? | Saint Aymes

This time, I wanted to make the blog post a bit more personal. On Instagram, in the small caption that is available, I never feel like there is enough space to do so and then, I always had the impression that the platform is a bit more visual than “text-y”. Still, what I do to share personal experiences, is Instagram stories and that is how you kind of get a glimpse of what we do in our spare time.

I still work full time, but like many of us, on the side I am working on something that I want to become my full time. Lately, every day when I am free from work, I try to do very detailed Insta stories. I enjoy doing these the most because even though it’s still just a glimpse into our spare time, put together, they make up a story. I wish I did them more often, but when I’m doing the usual trip by the tube and then work I feel like it would be all the same every day.

Last Sunday, I woke up at 5.30 am, even earlier than when I am going to work because the previous night I was too lazy to do wash my hair. So annoying early alarm it was! After this I would get a start on my makeup and Paul would make breakfast – ideally. Did I mention that he is a much better cook than I am? In the mornings, I also sort out any details when it comes to outfits. Everything that we are about to shoot is on a clothing rack in the living room, but sometimes I wait until the morning to find the accessories for each one…lazy again.

Depending on what location we have in mind, we might leave really early if it’s a touristic one that’s packed with people by 9 am, or we leave more relaxed, around 8 am if it’s any other location but touristic. This time we decided to introduce some family time into our spare time and we invited two of Paul’s sisters out for photos and a cup of coffee in a cute place.

The cute place that I am talking about is Saint Aymes in Central London and most likely, you have already seen at  least a picture from there before. But of course, we wanted our own cute pictures. The Cafe only opens at 10 but we were there 45 minutes before to do some scouting in the area also. When we got there at 9.15, the place was empty, but by the time we got back at 9.45…packed! You’ll see one of my pictures that I’ve put on my Instagram stories and that Saint Aymes shared – hihi! It’s needless to say that it’s a very successful cafe, with very strong coffee- beware for those who are used to lattes.

Because we had the girls with us, I felt much more relaxed and not at all intimidated to have someone watching us shoot. They were so helpful also! There is always a wardrobe malfunction – this time, I was wearing a very fitted lacy short dress and I was meant to put heels on. It’s just…the moment I bent down to put my heels on, I could feel my dress holding me straight. When I am writing this I am blushing a little, but they actually put my heels on for me. Of course, on top of that they are beautiful and photogenic so we had to take a few pictures together…which you will see if you scroll down.

This was the most exciting part of the day really – shooting, which is something that we do almost every single day when I am not working. And if we are not shooting, we are scouting for locations which luckily, London has plenty of them. The rest of our spare time consisted of a few emails, writing Sunday’s blog post on Sunday at 2pm…lazy! But, in our defense, we did go to the gym.

Can you believe that last week was my first ever time going to the gym? I have been to pilates and yoga classes, but never to an actual boring gym and it turns out, it’s not so boring after all. I most enjoy the end of our session (yes we are one of those annoying couples who go to the gym together) when we do stretching. It’s so funny seeing Paul doing the dancer kind of stretching 😀

This would be a not so detailed description of our spare time. Some variables might change, but we always start with shooting early in the morning. I can’t count how many times I was wearing a full face of makeup by 8 in the morning 😀

Hope you like the more personal posts about our spare time and if you do, let me know so that I know to do more of them.

Kisses!

Two makeup looks with Naked Heat

I might have promised a few posts ago that I will do a few makeup looks with the Naked Heat palette from Urban Decay. I used this palette a lot lately and now I feel comfortable to say that I can do an actual review. The surprise is, even though I used it considerably more than the last time I wrote a post about the palette, my thoughts have not changed. It’s still a very concise palette colour-wise which if you are a beginner, it’s perfect because it will not allow you to choose colours that don’t go with each other.

With metallic and shimmery eyeshadows, we all know they are in general very good. They are easy to apply, have a good pay-off and they are easy to blend. With matte eyeshadows though, they are not always what we’d expect. Sometimes they turn out dryer than we expected, less pay-off and the biggest problem is that they cling to one part of the lid and don’t seem to blend any further. Not these ones!

I am more in a matte eyeshadows phase and also, the matte ones in this palette are really good so I have prepared 2 makeup looks using only the matte eyeshadows in the Urban Decay- Naked Heat palette. Also, I added a twist for both look, something that can change your makeup look completely.

1. Office makeup look

makeup look | miss casual

A very simple, almost natural makeup look. This is my go to for work because the colours are neutral and even though I am wearing makeup, it looks minimal. Also, if you need the sensation of lifted eyes, which is a few extra hours of sleep, using the darker colour in the outer corner will help you reach that.

makeup look | miss casual

As I told you at the beginning of this blog post, I am only using the matte colours in the Naked Heat palette and FYI – they were really, really easy to use. If you look at the first four colours, they looks so similar to each other but that is exactly the reason why you can create dimension easily.

To switch things up and to use another product that gets forgotten about most often, I elevated the makeup look with a liner which after drying, I’ve smudged lightly with the darkest colour in the palette. If you have hazel eyes, this colour will make them look so green!

makeup look | miss casual

makeup look | miss casual

This makeup look is still work appropriate, but it’s much more fun!

2. In a rush makeup look

makeup look | miss casual

It’s only now that I see that I should have brought the brick-red a bit higher, but in real life, this was not so obvious!:D If you are in a rush, this is the quickest makeup look. I still used the transition shades in the crease because I wanted to test-drive as many eyeshadows as possible, but truth be told, this makeup look would have worked just with the one main colour all over the lid.

makeup look | miss casual

Depending on what you use in the inner corner, this makeup look can be for day or night, the trick is – it is very quick to do!

Also, I wanted to use a highlighter that I don’t use on my face too much but ever since I had a friend over that played with my makeup and used it in the inner corner, it got used a little more.

makeup look | miss casual

This duo-chrome highlighter might be too intimidating to be used on the face, but on the eyes, we can use it however we want. Inner corner is easy but I was curious if I were to put it on top of a matte eyeshadow, would it still look nice and not make the eyeshadow move?

makeup look | miss casual

And as you can see, it does change everything. I applied it with my finger because it’s too fine for the brush, but it did not move the matte eyeshadow underneath at all. Yuppi, I’ll do this again.

Which of the makeup looks is your personal favourite and which one do you think you’d wear more often?

Kisses!

The perfect gift – Naked Heat palette

From all the things that you can gift and be gifted, I have two favourites. One of them is jewellery, I love giving jewellery and even more, I love receiving it. If you read my post about my rings collection, you’ll know by now that I have so many memories related to the jewellery that I received – people, places, situations. The second favourite thing to give, and be given even more, is makeup. I am not a hoarder, but makeup just sparks my candle (is this the expression?) and when my parents came to visit and they’ve given me a beautifully wrapped package in a Sephora bag – my eyes went wide, my heart started beating faster. It was the Naked Heat palette from Urban Decay.

If you know me, you know that most of the colours that I wear are warm tones: corals, browns, bronzes, reds, and sometimes I do venture into cool tones, but I always come back to my first love. The Naked Heat palette which you might have seen all over Youtube is the fantasy which became reality of a warm-toned lover. I am one of those. I could barely stay away from not swatching the eyeshadows before we took pictures of the palette.

When it first came out, it was sold out in a matter of days, re-stocked and sold out again. In London, it was impossible to find it and so many people wanted it. And now, I have my own well-traveled (it came from Romania) Naked Heat palette. I’ve wore it non-stop for a week which is not the longest time but keep in mind that I wear eye makeup daily so I did at least 7 looks with it. Were they all very different from one another? Most of them, no. The looks that can be done with the palette are quite similar but exactly because of the fact that all the shades can be worn with each other, you can never fail. If you’re just starting in makeup, this palette is really making your job easier.

Are you afraid of wearing reds? We’ve been hearing that it makes us look sick, or like we’ve been crying. The truth is, if we spend a bit more time on the base – foundation, and we conceal every bit of redness, add a bit of bronzer, we will not look like that boyfriend of ours messed around with our feelings when wearing red. On the contrary, regardless of the colour of our eyes, red brings out shades that no other colour does. My eyes are hazel and I usually love it when eyeshadows make my eyes look even more green, but red makes my eyes look like a honey – hazel. They look much much lighter.

Another thing that I like in the Naked Heat palette is that there are a ton of mattes: from the bone colour one that’s perfect to set your eye primer, to a few crease shades, from light to darker and a few colour that I love putting either all over the lid or on the outer edges for dimension. The four shimmery eyeshadows though, are something else! They are so creamy and easy to apply and of course, they compliment any of the other shades in the palette. Something that I noticed with the matte eyeshadows is that they are very powdery when I put my brush in them. Personally I don’t find this a problem because I just tap off the excess and when I apply them to the lid, I have no fall out.

Would I suggest you buy the Naked Heat palette? If you are into warm eyeshadows and you don’t have the colours yet, I would say go for it! It’s a good quality palette which will come in handy not just during summer, but any other season really. Also, I was curious, do you like gifting and be gifted makeup? I know everything is a matter of preference and with complexion makeup you need to know the exact shade, so that might be a bit more difficult. Although, I feel that with eyeshadows and lip products, you can never go wrong. Oh and if your friend is a nail polish lover – that’s even better because there are so many shades at so many price tags.

Did you try the Naked Heat palette? If you did, let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Kisses!

Wanderlust – To Bournemouth in good company

I am always so excited to have my parents and friends visiting in London. It brings me tremendous pleasure to walk them around the city, showing them my favourite places, while of course, watching their reactions.

I don’t often invite friends over because it’s not the most convenient country to come to – it’s not a two hours drive. It most often is a 3 hours flight with the two hours extra that you have to wait in the airport and for those who don’t have an airport in their city, the hours add up. Then in London, from the airport where we live is another hour. I feel tired just thinking about this trip. However, I do try to let them know that whenever they decide to come to London, we’ll have an extra bed for them.

I am actually writing this post because my parents are visiting us right now. By the time this post goes live, they’ll be on a plane home. I am keep telling them that visits this short should be illegal, but still, we want to make the best of it.

As they have been to most tourist attractions, this time we wanted to take them outside of London, to the Ocean (which is actually the English Channel) – so Bournemouth it is!

From here, I leave you with a story in pictures. It is the first time I choose to do it like this, but I’m a very visual person and I thought I’d do something different for all the other visuals out there.

Enjoy!

I can’t even remember my makeup game before highlighter – do you ever feel like that? As mentioned before, because of my disco ball oily skin, I only started using highlighter two years ago. (did I live under a rock?)

It’s quite funny because I was literally salivating in front of every makeup tutorial when they got to the part where they are applying highlighter. I still don’t know if I would have purchased it myself, but let’s just say that somebody else aligned the stars for me.

I was still living in Romania and Paul in the UK when he came to visit holding a MAC bag. You can not imagine how my eyes sparkled! Where I used to live, the closest MAC store is at two hours away and it was only opened around 3 years ago so seeing a MAC bag is not the most common thing. As you might have guessed, the present in the bag was a highlighter, but not any highlighter, the staple – Soft and Gentle! I still use this one to the day, I’m actually wearing it now while I’m writing this blog post.

From my first experience, I kind of got a taste for highlighter so I ventured into the highly reflective Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit, the more subtle but buildable Laura Geller one, a powdery Sleek one that’s perfect for an understated highlighter to the crazy duo-chrome Diamond Light one from Too faced.

My most used highlighter is the champagne toned one from MAC and then the pink-toned  Peach Glow one from Laura Geller. The MAC one will emphasize any texture that I have because of it’s consistency – even though highly reflective, it is a bit chunky. Even so, from all the highlighters that I’ve tried, this one has my most favourite undertone.

With such hyped products as highlighters, you would expect the trend to cool down soon, but honestly speaking, I don’t believe they are going anywhere. Except my makeup bag, of course!
