Only when I think of all the stripes that I wore in my life, I realize how versatile they can be. Thick or subtle, monochromatic or colourful, they can be worn anytime. From the comfy silk pyjama, to the pinstripe suits, to the sailors’ ones, there is a type of stripe for any occasion.
Stripes are again something that I don’t remember wearing much as a child, but they were always in trend so my memory might play games with me. When I look at the designers’ shows this season and a few previous ones, my mind goes directly to Temperley. On my previous job, I used to sell a very, very small collection of Temperley, but I can’t really say that it attracted me much.
Although, one Bicester Village trip, we were curious to see a bigger collection of theirs and we were left mesmerized. First, the colours that they use are the dreamiest most diaphanous ones, and then the materials and cuts are to live for (sorry, don’t like the original expression with “die”). The dresses with sequins were easy to fall in love with, but what caught my attention was a dress with light blue and white stripes with flowers embroidered on them. What I liked about this particular dress was how versatile it was – could be a casual one or it easily could be a dress to be worn on a night out, on a brunch event on the French Riviera, anywhere really. I am pretty sure if we had it, most of us will find the excuses to wear it.
Now an item that I actually do have in my wardrobe not just wish I did, are pinstripe trousers. I do however prefer the paper bag type with a high waist to the office ones because they are so comfy. This I find is the closest thing to a pyjama that we can wear outside without attracting too much attention.

Same goes with jumpsuits. If you follow my Instagram, you might have noticed that every few days, there is a picture of a jumpsuit. When most of them are with ruffles,I did find one with stripes that I loved. They were what makes me think of desert colours, even thought I’ve never been in one (yet!) – ivory with cream.

When it comes to dresses or skirts, I like going all out. As colourful as possible please! The most recent stripe skirt that I wore was when my parents visited and we went to Bournemouth. That is the most relaxed city I’ve seen in the UK! But the point is that I had so much success with little princesses while I wore this particular dress. As with all of the previous items, I will insert either a picture or a link, but when it came to attracting the right kind of attention, this skirt was a winner.

How do you like wearing stripes? If you ever think a skirt or a pair of trousers are too much stripes, you can anytime incorporate them in your accessories, maybe a striped hair tie,or even a top? Which of the mentioned items are you favourite and which do you think is the most wearable?
